5月7日 Turkish thoughtsHere is a link to an interesting article about the current situation in Turkey. What I noticed in the article and it seems to be a recurring theme is that writers tend to associate pornography and homosexuality as hallmarks of our Western society. Therefore, when these things are seen in Muslim society it becomes an indicator of their advancement in our eyes only. For many of us here these social indicators are signposts to the road to ruin. Needless, to say these social indicators in Muslim eyes represent everything they are trying to protect their societies from.
In the clash of civilizations I think it is a sad day when the best we have to offer is pornography and homosexuality. No wonder they reject what we seem to be offering and will work here in this country to establish laws that would not only prohibit these activities but make them illegal.
Watching events in the Middle East I am hoping for open doors for the gospel. I have spent time talking with Muslims and they are shocked at some of our shared moral values. Yet, only the message of Christ and Christ crucified is going to be able to compete in their hearts. This is why the message is illegal in most Muslim countries. As we move towards one world government, one world economy and one world religion there will be a weakening of all religions of the world as they gravitate to the one world religion of the anti-Christ.
Just as the acceptance of pornography and homosexuality weaken the Christian church it will have the same effect in Muslim society. Hopefully as the doors open the gospel can be preached. Our message will need to be distinct from the message of current American culture. 5月5日 FavorI finished up in Virginia Beach. Kevin Babcock and his wife Heidi were in Poland for 4 years and Bulgaria for 5 years. Their two boys actually went to Polish public schools learning Polish as they went along. I left there this morning getting a ride with Eric, a Norfolk disciple, who was driving a van loaded with music equipment to Alexandria for a concert. I walked over to the concert from my hotel. It had been raining off and on and I wasn’t sure if they would have the concert.
Good music, excellent lyrics, great testimonies and a drama with a couple arguing over their small child seated between them. They were allowed to set up in a Men’s Warehouse parking lot right next to a major mall. Guys were handing out flyers to cars waiting at the lights and many people drove up and listened from their cars. Wonderful favor just outside our nation’s capitol. There is still hope. 5月2日 Listening ChildrenI am now in Virginia Beach preaching for Kevin Babcock. I enjoyed my time with Eric Strutz in Colton CA. A small highlight of the meeting in Colton was my interaction with the young people in the church. While preaching I said that we all know some scriptures that we could share with someone else. I challenged one young girl about whether she knew any scriptures. This dramatic challenge in the middle of a sermon left her speechless. I asked who her father was. She pointed to her father (the big man on the basketball court) as I continued preaching enjoying the moment.
The next night before church I had five young people come up to me before church to recite memory verses to me. Each encounter was like one of those stockbroker commercials where everything stops as everyone listens to the young person exhibits their knowledge of scripture. The big man’s daughter was one of these who came up to me. This started as I walked to the building and finished after service when one proud father approached me with his son who must have been all of 3 or 4 to recite his memory verse to me. Talk about being blessed with results from a revival meeting, count me blessed. |
